Giving Thanks in Amsterdam

I fell asleep last night with a sadness knowing when I woke up in the morning I would not be waking up surrounded by my family.  I talked to my sweet sister right before bed and I shared with her how I felt like I was missing out on one of my favorite days of the year: Thanksgiving Day.

I know God brought me to Amsterdam not to miss out on anything but to embrace a new experience with Him.  God knew this sadness in my heart last night and He prepared such a special gift for me this morning.

I woke up to a beautiful sunrise.  The light, the colors, the reflection; all so beautiful causing me to immediately thank God for this special gift He made just for me to enjoy with Him.

As I attempted to stare straight into the beauty of the sun I realized it is not possible for more than half a second before you have no choice but to close your eyes or turn them away from the bright sun.

As I turned my head I caught the reflection of the sun on buildings and rooftops.  I was struck by the glistening sun washing over all in sight.  It was a beautiful sight that filled me with such happiness and joy.

In an instant God really spoke to my heart through this picture-perfect moment with Him.

“I am the sun, Diane.  You need me every day.  Some days the sun is brighter than others.  Today is not the day to see me face to face, your eyes are not yet developed to see my complete glory.  I am training your eyes to see and appreciate the reflection of My light, love, and glory in your life and in the lives of so many others placed across your path.”

What a beautiful sight to behold.  Thank you Lord for shining so brightly that even on the cloudiest of days we can see your glory reflected in the hearts of those that love you!

Take time today, right where you are, to give thanks to God for the little or big things He has brought to your life.  Happy Thanksgiving!

For You,

All beautiful you are my darling; there is no flaw in you!

Song of Songs 4:7

While I was stumbling up Calvary’s hill it was your heart I was thinking of.  I could feel the hurt and pain that would mar your beautiful heart and soul.  It pained me to see every mark, blemish, and tainted spot breaking your heart.

I cried out for you!

I kept stumbling for you.

I kept enduring the torment for you.

I struck my cross in the ground for you.

The ground shook and so did every fault on your heart.  My love for you is true.  My love led me to die for you, being separated from God so you never have to be.

When I rose from the grave, your new flawless heart rose with me.  I have been keeping your new flawless heart safe for you.

Today, your heart may have scars but that is okay.  Scars are not a sign of weakness; they are my love for you.  Look into those scars and you will find My love; My extravagant, relentless love.

All I see when I look down on you is the flawless heart I crafted just for you to have.  You will receive my flawless heart for you every time you allow yourself to receive My love into your pain.

Love, Jesus
